FAQs
Question: Why is our Post required to pay for people who aren't attending or delegate positions we do not fill?
Answer: Each Post is allotted a certain number of delegates based on the Post membership strength in accordance with the Dept of MD Constitution Article V, Section 2. Article V, Section 6, mandates that all Posts pay for the number of delegates the Post is entitled to, regardless of how many attend the convention. For example, if your Post has 8 delegates but only 4 people want to attend the convention, the Post still pays for 8 entries. These entrance fees help the Department offset the cost of the convention for all.
Question: Do PDCs and Department Officers get to attend for free?
Answer: The home post of each Past Department Commander and Department Officer pays for their attendance. For example, if that Post is allotted 8 delegates, and they have one PDC, they must pay for 9 delegates. The PDC and Department Officers cast their votes with their Post during a roll call vote.
Question: Do we have to go to the Fish Fry? What if we don't arrive until too late?
Answer: Attendance at the fish fry is entirely optional. It is free and open to family and friends, so it's a great way to spend time with them and your Legion colleagues. Dress for fun and be ready to play corn hole, visit the video gaming trailer, or just relax with friends!
Question: What's the dress code for the dinner event on Tuesday evening?
Answer: Though this dinner is free and open to family members also, Legion members are expected to dress in "Legion Casual." Suits are fine, polos and slacks are fine, but please, no shorts, cutoffs, and other beach clothes!
